Day 2 Online Marketing
Amazingly, I did accomplish some good milestones today, even though the day did not quite go as planned. First, we had a friend drop her autistic boy off to stay for a few days while she is involved in moving house. He has to be constantly watched. (At least we have a few family members here that can take turns at that!)
As well as this surprise visitor, the internet connection was not behaving very well for me today. We are on a satellite connection because we live outside of the reception area for wireless broadband, and the connection was regularly dropping out, which slowed me up somewhat.
Now I mention these ‘interruptions’ not as excuses, but in recognition of the fact that life for a parent is not delivered in neat, undistracted chunks, and if the unforeseen happens to me as a home business mum, it’s going to happen to you too, and we just have to weave our way through with a smile. A child is sick, the car breaks down, interstate visitors, the computer has a fit. Okay, it’s going to happen sometime. Go to ‘Plan B’. Make progress, even if it is only a little.
What else? Well, today I helped a friend who rang me trying to pin down what Ann Sieg was talking about in her Attraction Marketing Manifesto. That’s networking. And I (eventually) managed to upload an e-book I wrote on homeschooling to Scribd.com, which contained a link to my twitter account. Ten people had viewed this narrow niche in the first 2 hours. That’s exposure.
And I changed my mind about using Weebly for my promotional website, and have used instead one of the templates provided by the many millionaires in this new business. Why did I change my mind? Well, as they said on the resource website (back office), ‘don’t out-think yourself, go with what has already worked for these successful leaders.’ I think they have a point. So, it is customised with my bio on top, and I can always change to my own website later if I choose. It doesn’t cost any extra, and it was quick to complete.
The last thing I did (apart from updating this blog!), was to insert the URL for this new promotional website in my Twitter profile, , so that my twitter friends can reference it.
I would still term all this as preparation for attracting leads, but I feel I have definitely made some measurable progress. Any suggestions on better use of my time, etc?
Look out for tomorrow’s update!
