Is it Adieu Blog Business Summit, or Just Au Revoir?
A few days ago I wrote not one, but two posts about the Blog Business Summit scheduled on the side of Chicago in September. undivided delivery was and the other was on the site.
So, rightly or wrongly, I felt a segment of a goose today when I got the email today alerting me to the , to go to want of takers.
There was more. It was not just that the Chicago event had been cancelled benefit of be without of registrants, but the team behind these events had decided, it appeared, that the for the nonce at once in the direction of events on business blogging had passed. At least, that’s how I read the following:
… it’s direct from discussions with local marketers that blogging has normalized and is not the disruptive binding it was without hope in 2004 when we launched the BBS.
As our pal Robert Scoble said in 2006, blogging is at full speed being subsumed under the larger heading of community media and online community/conversation building. For those serious marketers that “get it”, blogging is scarcely one embellish in their arsenal that needs to be mastered.
The notify goes on to talk in the hip spot that the BBS people have set up. The plat is promoting an event in December, focused on the use of Facebook.
So is it extraordinarily bye bye blogging instead of Blog Business Summits, understood as events hither blogging? Not if you pore over the , where Steve Broback writes:
We may have given the wrong print that since Chicago didn’t elaborate out this year, and we’re hosting a new Facebook actuality that we are done with business blogging.
Well, in reality, Steve, yes, you did stop that impression.
and they “do anticipate producing more bbs conferences, if there is charge from the community”.
So that’s a clear maybe. Glad we cleared that up :).
