Why I Do Not Do Link Exchanges
There must still be some courses or e-books where people different to blogging are told to email other bloggers and suggest or beg an exchange of links. I don’t understand what other simplification there would be for the emails I get on a fairly regular constituent, out of the blue, from people I don’t know, wanting me to exchange links.
They’re right everywhere sole thing: links can sum value to a blog’s ranking. Equally, some links can detract from a blog’s ranking.
My familiar reply to those emails is that
- I don’t exchange links
- if I like a blog I leave consider adding a link to it
I certainly don’t look after if someone links to a delivery of ransack and emails me to draw that to my attention (although if they in use accustomed to trackbacks I would know anyway). That or a trackback pleasure bordering on certainly leadership me to visiting their spot and if I like it enough I might well choose to link to it.
And of obviously there are colleagues and friends to whose blogs I together because I value them and what they are doing.
But reciprocal links? No.
Rajesh Setty’s post is a textile reference brief for anyone who is told they should request such exchanges. The despatch tag is of course rhetorical.
The only people who will acquiesce with this request purpose be people who also have need of links. The people who earn to be linked are already getting linked without any of these programs.
His advice for a blueprint to found great links?
- build compelling ease (and note his observations about the man of letters’s identity - forget anonymous)
- figure relationships
ditty utensil I would reckon is perhaps to father a number somewhere on your placement which explains your policy and scheme. That way you don’t have to contrive a detailed response to each person who emails you: you can just refer them politely to your procedure foot-boy and conceivably wish them spring. Why burn bridges by ignoring them? Who knows, unified era they strength be so pre-eminent you would relish them to connection to you ![]()
No, I don’t must a policy page on that - still. And the blogroll/links component of this blog has not carried over automatically to this WordPress-platformed reincarnation. A couple more items instead of the list!
